Frequently asked questions

Can I still rotate the Magnetic CPL Pro once it's attached?

Yes. It rotates freely within the magnetic mount, so you dial in polarisation the same way as the threaded CPL.

Will the Magnetic CPL Pro work with my lens hood?

No. Magnetic Pro Filters aren't compatible with lens hoods, Magnetic Plus Filters or Magnetic Plus Adapter Rings.

Can I use a regular lens cap with the Magnetic CPL Pro?

Yes. Clip-on or side-pinch lens caps sized to the filter's thread diameter work as a cover.

Can I use a step up ring adapter with the Magnetic CPL Pro?

No. Magnetic Pro Filters are not compatible with Urth's Threaded Step Up Ring Filter Adapter or Magnetic Step Up Ring Filter Adapter, which is designed to be used with the Magnetic Plus Filter system.

Are Urth Magnetic Pro Filters compatible with retractable lenses?

Not always. Urth Magnetic Pro Filters have a larger outer diameter than other Urth Filters, particularly the Variable ND Pro with its wider, stepped front, which can catch the lens as it extends or retracts. Retractable lenses, such as the Fujifilm XF 23mm f/2.8 or the Leica D-Lux 8, can also be sensitive to added weight, so a filter may add resistance to the movement even when nothing is in the way. If you’re unsure about your lens, contact our team before purchasing.

How much light does the Magnetic CPL Pro cut?

It reduces light by about 1.3 stops and delivers ≤0.5% reflectance — among the lowest in the range — with True Color transmission for tonal accuracy. The only visible change is the polarisation effect you're dialling in.

Determine Filter Size

Match the diameter (e.g. Ø49mm) on your lens to the filter size. This is different to focal length.

Mount the Magnetic Adapter Ring

Thread the Magnetic Adapter Ring to your lens. Avoid overtightening.

Attach the Filter

Align the filter's grip tabs with the gaps in the adapter ring, then twist to lock in place. Once locked, the filter rotates freely and won't detach until it's turned back to the original alignment.
