Shopping for a backpack is surprisingly difficult. I'm glad I stumbled across the Arkose however.
This bag ticks all my boxes.
The minimal aesthetic is bang on. It's functional and does so looking great. It has an insane amount of pockets yet none of it is overbearing or invasive on the design. If you don't use the pockets, you'll be no worse for it becuase unlike other bags, they do not create any dead space.
In fact, the 'modular' aspect of this backpack is incredible and I've not seen any other brand do it, and I don't know why! The bottom portion of the bag (the horizontal zip in the middle) can be unzipped from the inside to expand the space inside the bag. This is a brilliant innovation, meaning you have a proper way to compartmentalise larger items. The feature was unexpected, simple, but also mindblowing.
They have truly thought of everything with this bag. It has thankfully come 1 day early, allowing me to use it for my impromptu trip to spain. I am using no other form on luggage and travelling for 4 days, yet despite its seemingly small size, it fits everything with room to spare. Urth has somehow bent the laws of physics here.
The quality of materials here also seem great. Zips are strong with the perfect amount of resistance. The main nylon material feels premium and is stitched well and consistently. No loose threads is great to see! The internal pockets are very well padded and organised. The white contrast inside really does make a world of difference…
