Match the diameter (e.g. Ø49mm) on your lens to the filter size. This is different to focal length.

Align the filter with the lens and thread by rotating clockwise. Avoid overtightening.

To compensate for the 6 f-stop darkening of your image, slow your shutter speed for motion blur effects, or open your aperture for depth of field effects in bright light.

Rotate the filter to align your graduation line with the horizon to create a 3 f-stop darkening over the bright half of your image. By balancing the graduated light in your image, your camera is able to capture more detail and depth in highlights and lowlights.
Any time I buy something new lens related I have a bad curse of dropping them from a small height. Landed on a rock covered beach, and the lens filter is still in perfect condition. Incredible durability, and I just enjoy the kit. Just wonderful.
