Frequently asked questions

What range does the Variable ND2-32 Pro cover, and how do I adjust it?

It rotates from ND2 to ND32 — 1 to 5 stops — so you can dial in exposure without swapping filters as light changes through the day.

Does it cause an X-pattern at its extreme settings?

No. The square-edge grip has tuned resistance and a hard-stop design specifically built to prevent over-rotation, colour shifts and X-patterns at either end of the range.

Can I use a regular lens cap with the Variable ND2-32 Pro?

Yes. Any clip-on or side-pinch lens cap sized to the filter's thread diameter works as a cover.

Can I use a step up ring adapter with the Variable ND2-32 Pro?

Yes. It's compatible with Urth's Threaded Step Up Ring Filter Adapter. Select the Step Up Ring Filter Adapter, not the magnetic version.

Are Urth Pro Filters compatible with retractable lenses?

Not always. Urth Pro Filters have a larger outer diameter than other Urth Filters, particularly the Variable ND Pro with its wider, stepped front, which can catch the lens as it extends or retracts. Retractable lenses, such as the Fujifilm XF 23mm f/2.8 or the Leica D-Lux 8, can also be sensitive to added weight, so a filter may add resistance to the movement even when nothing is in the way. If you’re unsure about your lens, contact our team before purchasing.

How do I clean and store the Variable ND2-32 Pro?

Wipe with Urth's Lens Cleaning Cloth for dust and fingerprints. The dual-sided hydrophobic coating resists water, oil and smudging. Use Urth's Lens Cleaning Spray for anything stubborn, and store it in its case when off the lens.

Perfect ND for the work i do..

The ND's filters for me are so necessary for both in the harsh sun especially when it comes to the whitewater of the surf when shooting from a boat or jet-ski and when needing more depth of field in those quick vox pop interviews. My lenses are not complete without them.
