Match the diameter (e.g. Ø49mm) on your lens to the filter size. This is different to focal length.

Align the filter with the lens and thread by rotating clockwise. Avoid overtightening.

Rotate the filter’s front ring while looking through the viewfinder. Fine-tune to the conditions.

Or, you can adjust for the 3 f-stop darkening by opening up your aperture, which creates a shallower depth of field. You can also combine both exposure setting adjustments.
